This will create high surf and strong rip currents through Tuesday evening. Minor coastal flooding will be possible in low-lying coastal areas during high tides. Swell and surf will gradually subside late Tuesday. San Diego County Coastal Areas-Orange County Coastal Areas- 115 AM PST Mon Dec 17 2018 ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 10 PM PST TUESDAY... * Waves and Surf...6 to 9 feet with sets to 11 feet in Orange County. 7 to 11 feet in San Diego County with local sets to 13 feet south of Del Mar late today through Tuesday morning. * Timing...Surf increasing Monday morning, peaking late Monday into early Tuesday. Surf will begin to lower Tuesday afternoon. * Tides...Highest at Newport Beach: 5.2 feet at 540 AM Tuesday. Highest at La Jolla: 5.1 feet at 538 AM Tuesday. * Impacts...Increased risk of drowning due to elevated surf and strong rip currents. Sneaker waves and other hazards can create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. Minor coastal flooding during early morning high tides and minor beach erosion are possible.
