Adventure awaits: Jeep excursions, hikes at Coachella Valley resort

Share

Traveling, while always a luxury, comes with its own conundrums. The question: To relax and shut-down or venture out and explore?

Just a two-and-a-half hour drive from downtown San Diego, Miramonte Resort & Spa in the Coachella Valley offers guests the best of both worlds.

The 11-acre property just outside of Palm Springs captures the beauty of the surrounding area, as the towering Santa Rosa Mountains hover over the valley. For guests seeking respite, Miramonte features 215 welcoming guest rooms, including 23 suites and four villas, as well as three pools to soak up the sun. The Well Spa - tucked away in the center of the resort - offers therapeutic and invigorating treatments to indulge in.

While the resort is generous in providing peaceful accommodations, the team at Miramonte is more interested in getting guests out into the scenic outdoors. Jeep excursion tours, hikes and bike rides are all promoted for those visiting the property to discover the surrounding desert.

A four-hour jeep excursion through the San Andreas Fault Line can be arranged with local company, Big Wheel Tours. Passengers are guided on rugged backcountry trails through the San Andreas Fault, along canyons and Joshua Tree National Park. Jeep tours come with an expert guide, water, snacks and a convenient hotel pickup and drop-off.

There’s also opportunities for guests to take on the BMW Performance Center, explore ample hiking trails throughout the region or explore the area’s horse riding, tennis and golf scenes.

Once the sightseeing is done, Miramonte gives guests even more room to unwind. For yogis, morning Vinyasa sessions bring the downward dogs out; there’s also a bocce ball court, a 24-hour fitness studio and cruiser bikes free to take for a ride.

Executive Chef Paul Hancock leads the Grove kitchen to cap off a fully comprehensive trip, bringing new life to Miramonte’s farm-to-fork program. Fresh citrus fruits and an herb garden are grown right on the property and used for culinary creations.

Whether it’s exploring the region’s heart-pumping activities or resting your head with a mountain view, there’s a slice of the desert here for anyone’s travel style.
