Fabulous Christine A. Moore hand-fabricated hats to adorn the heads of stylish race goers will be the showstoppers at this Hat Pop-Up. Christine A. Moore Millinery has been creating famous hats for theater, television shows and celebrities like Katy Perry, Mary J. Blige, Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez for over 20 years. And her hats have won her great acclaim in the world of horse racing: NBC’s TODAY Show calls her “the milliner to the Triple Crown.” She designed the official Barbie doll derby hat and fashioned the Oaks hat for Kentucky’s First Lady and the Preakness hat for the mayor of Baltimore. The kudos go on.

The horses at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club are beautiful and so are the ladies who attend the races. L’Auberge Del Mar has partnered with Dry Bar, the nation’s premier blowout experts to ensure perfect coifs for Opening Day. Two stylists will be on-hand for 20-minute dry styling appointments (curling, braiding, etc.) and to assist ladies with pinning on headpieces. The price is $40. From 5 p.m. to midnight, horse racing fans can don their finest hats and bow ties to enjoy: a dance experience like no other with DJ FishFonics and DJ Gabe Vega on the pool deck; jockey-themed entertainment, including go-go dancers; California-inspired culinary stations with local treats such as foie gras with pickled strawberries, ABJ (almond butter and strawberry jam) and much more; and craft beer, featured liquors and cash bars. And for the ultimate party, chic private cabanas (must be reserved) available on the resort’s Sunset and Pacific terraces - ensuring spectacular ocean views - or poolside, right in the middle of the party action.
