What's new with 'Doctor Who'?

What's new with the Doctor? Five new facts from Thursday's Comic-Con panel.

1 New character

Actress Maisie Williams , Arya Stark on "Game of Thrones," will debut in Season 9, perhaps as the Doctor's long-missing granddaughter Susan. In a brief preview screened Thursday, she asks the Doctor "What took you so long, old man?"

2 A nicer villain?

Missy, the violent super-villain revealed to be The Master at the end of Season 8, will be back. Michelle Gomez will play the role again, but she promises it will be in an entirely new way. The Master's goal is to rekindle her friendship with the Doctor.

3 'All in'

Clara, the doctor's faithful companion, is "all in" for Season 9, compelled to explore space and time with the doctor as much as possible. Actress Jenna Coleman says Clara's enthusiasm is due to her growing comfort with Doctor No. 12, and also because she is running from her grief over the death of boyfriend Danny Pink.

4 A more polished Doctor?

The Doctor will get some lessons in social skills from Clara, who attempts to shave off some of his rough, angry edges in public situations.

5 Some revelations

A preview for Season 9 revealed few secrets, but there are a few tidbits that can be revealed. There will be a Daleks, zombies rising from their graves, the Tardis seems to be covered with some sort of black mold, and Clara does a lot of running. The season premieres Sept. 19.
