Tour de Fat is cycling back through San Diego

Share

The time has come again for the huge New Belgium bike ride known as Tour de Fat. The San Diego edition of the nationwide event will be rolling through Golden Hill Park for a beer-filled day of fun on Saturday, Sept. 24. The party will kick off at 10 a.m. and wrap up at 4:30 p.m

The celebration’s goal is to bring awareness to biking as a substantial means of transport and inspire those who regularly use their car for commuting to rethink their routine. A bike ride (where costumes are encouraged) will begin at 11 a.m. and cruise through the Golden Heights, South Park, Burlingame neighborhoods and then return back to Golden Hill Park.

The event will offer a New Belgium beer garden as well as a fashion competition, so be dressed to impress in your most creative gear. There will be a game show to win a New Belgium bike and the annual “Car for Bike” trade, which allows people to trade in their car keys for a new bike.

Live entertainment will be provided by Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds starting at 3:50 p.m.

The event is free to enter and all ages are welcome. The beer garden area is 21-and-over only. Those interested can pre-register for the event on eventbrite.com
