The Cult will open Guns N’ Roses’ Monday night concert at Qualcomm Stadium, the final U.S. date on GNR’s reunion tour.

The Cult has opened a number of other shows on GNR’s Not In This Lifetime reunion tour, most recently at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Thursday and Saturday. The five-man band, formed in England in 1983, is co-led by two of its charter members, singer Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy.

The Cult and Guns N’ Roses have previously shared one musician in common, drummer Matt Sorum, who has played in both bands in the past.

“People like to marginalize The Cult as being a ‘middle-aged, white, rock band.’ But I know for a fact that we’ve developed our awareness over the years,” Astbury said in a 2014 Union-Tribune interview.

“So it’s not so much that we’re trying to work against the grain. But we’re very confident and very familiar with who we are, what the musical materials mean to us, and what we’re trying to put across - meaning, whatever wisdom and experience we’ve got. We put our life and guts into it, and try and live authentically ...

“And we ain’t done yet; far from it. In fact, I’m just getting started.”
