San Diego based retailer Sun Diego Boardshops will be holding the grand finale of their AM SLAM Surf and Skate series events at Belmont Park in Mission Beach on
Sunday, Sept. 24-25
. The final AM SLAM contest is the single largest surf and skate event in the city of San Diego. Put on from partnerships with O’Neill and Vans for surf and skate respectively, the fourth and final event of the series will be a huge Surf, Skate and Music Festival. The surf and skate contest will pit competitors against one another with an eye on the collective leader board, as winners of the last stop will accumulate double points to add to their overall standings for a chance at the $5,000 grand prize in both the surf and skate Pro-Am divisions. Belmont Park provides an idealistic backdrop to the event and a custom skate course designed by Keen Ramps will ensure a world class display of both surfing and skating.
The previous three AM SLAM events have been held with surfing and skateboarding contests running on separate weekends. Prior stops were at Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach and San Clemente Pier for the surf events and at Academy Skatepark, Rancho Penasquitos Skatepark and Melba Bishop Skatepark for the skate events. For the second time in the Sun Diego AM SLAM’s 9 year history, both the surf and skate finals will be held together along with a huge array of brands spanning the action sports scene. Brands including Vans, O’Neill, Stance, Bones, Electric, Spy, Avasin, Nixon, Creatures of Leisure, Surface, Reef, Captain Fin and over 30 other brands will come together to assemble a massive vendor tent city with tons of prizes and giveaways for all in attendance.
To add extra drama to the final, the last event is double points rated meaning the top spot is wide open for most of the divisions. The overall winners for the entire series (points have been collected over the previous three events) will be crowned the season champion and will take home tons of prizes from the series sponsors with the Pro-Am winners of both the surf and skate event walking away with a huge $5,000 check!
