Snoop Dogg keeps ahead of the pack
Snoop Dogg’s status as America’s favorite former drug dealer-turned-rap-star-and-all-around-entrepreneurial-whiz is more secure than ever. So, apparently, is his ever-expanding performance schedule and business empire.
On Saturday, Snoop, 44, headlines at Sleep Train Amphitheatre. He’ll share the stage with fellow hip-hop favorite Wiz Khalifa, as part of their national The High Road Tour. Snoop returns on Sept. 17 to perform solo as DJ Snoopadelic at the three-day KAABOO Del Mar Festival.
Meanwhile, the Long Beach native has been carefully overseeing the continuing roll-out of his recreational marijuana line, Leafs By Snoop. It made its debut last fall in Colorado, where the use and sale of pot products is legal. If Prop. 64 - the California Marijuana Legalization Initiative - wins enough votes in November, Leafs By Snoop will expand to its namesake’s home state.
Snoop’s line includes eight strains - including Cali Kush, Tangerine Dream, Northern Lights and Blueberry Dream - along with a line of edibles that includes no fewer than six chocolate bar flavors, four fruit chews, four types of cannabis drops, and more. Now, let’s see if he’ll update the lyrics to update his 1993 classic, “Gin and Juice,” to reflect his latest business venture.
