See the landscape of Southern California from the vantage point of a couple of outsiders in two short films being screened as a complement to the exhibition “The Uses of Photography: Art, Politics, and the Reinvention of a Medium.”

10.7-11.4: “Appropriated Touch” @ San Diego Art Institute’s Project Space

This solo project by San Diego artist Daniel Barron Corrales uses byproducts of the fashion and textile industries to create finished colors and textures, and to explore the potential for collaboration with the work of another.

10.7-11.30: “Celebrating the Art in Archeology” @ San Diego County Archaeological Society,

Art and archaeology intersect in this exhibit of illustrations, photography, paintings, sculptures, weaving, sewing and pottery in celebration of both California Archaeology and Native American Heritage month.

10.8-9: “Art Glass Show & Sale” @ Spanish Village Art Center

More than 30 juried artists have blown, fused, etched, stained, torched or fashioned glass into mosaics for this show, with pieces available for purchase.

10.8-2.5: “Animals Among Us: 11th Annual Youth Exhibition” @ Museum of Photographic Arts


Hundreds of San Diego and Tijuana youngsters submitted photos or video art as they vied for one of 105 spots in this animal-focused exhibit.

10.15-23: “Peter Max Retrospective” @ Monarch | Arredon Contemporary Art,

Peter Max’s lush, vibrant art has been everywhere - on a Boeing jet, in presidential libraries and U.S. embassies, in museums throughout the world, and on NBC’s The Voice. Now, it can be on your wall, since all the works in this exhibit are available for acquisition

10.18-30: “Annual Black & White Juried Show” @ La Jolla Art Association,

Enter a world where everything is black and white - and shades of gray. Artists from all over Southern California will display (and offer for sale) art devoid of any other colors.
