The new farmers market will give chefs and the community an opportunity to purchase fresh and local food in the middle of the week.
Little Italy and The Little Italy Association are expanding their fresh and local shopping opportunites with a weekly Wednesday farmers market starting July 18.
Catt Fields White, Little Italy Mercato and Wednesday Market manager, said Little Italy’s central location and high traffic would make it a suitable location for a midweek market, serving both chefs and the community.
Similar to the Saturday Little Italy Mercato, farm fresh produce, pastured eggs, poultry, meat, fish and more will be provided by California farmers, fishermen and foodmakers for shoppers to purchase.
Guests can enjoy live music on the street corners or relax at the newly open Piazza della Famiglia, which borders the market. The Wednesday market will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and reside on the three blocks on W. Date Street between Kettner Boulevard and State Street. A list of vendors is yet to be announced.
