Holiday Food Truck Festival brings food, music and cheer to Balboa Park

Share

For those who might have missed out on Balboa Park’s Food Truck Fridays earlier this year, the holiday season has a miracle in store as the Holiday Food Truck Festival makes its way to Balboa Park for five days to cap off 2017.

From Dec. 26-30, colorful light displays, gourmet dishes and free live music and dance entertainment will be on hand in the Plaza de Panama.

Featured events throughout the festival include an all-ages area at the Prado Restaurant, a New Year’s resolution activity at the Museum of Photographic Arts and for those who’d like to savor the moment, a photo booth organized by Fab Trailers.

The festival also will have family-friendly activities available at the Spanish Village Art Center who will be presenting arts and crafts for kids while the Balboa Park Explorer team will offer giveaways and trivia.

For those who want to grab a drink, head to Panama 66, a beer bar and restaurant located in The San Diego Museum of Art’s May S. Marcy Sculpture Court, which will be open during its regular hours for all five days of the event.

Each day of the event will feature live jazz and dance music from artists like Django Shredders and the Carmen Murray Jazz Trio with the day-by-day schedule as follows:

Dec. 26: Django Shredders

Dec. 27: Pizarro Brothers

Dec. 28: Lorraine Castellanos

Dec. 29: Theo and the Zydeco Patrol

Dec. 30: Carmen Murray Jazz Trio

To avoid traffic going to and from the festival, Lyft app users can receive 20% off two rides with the code HOLIDAYFOOD17 during all days of the event.
