GI Film Festival will highlight local military culture
The stories of the women and men who serve in the military will be showcased next week when the GI Film Festival kicks off next week in San Diego. From documentaries and feature films to shorts and narratives, watch stories about women who overcame discrimination or sexual assault, veterans healing from survivor’s guilt and PTSD after serving in World War II or an Army sergeant who returns from Afghanistan a quadriplegic.
There will be screenings, panel discussions, a family movie night with a screening of “Wonder Woman,” a local film showcase to highlight San Diego’s local military culture, and an awards ceremony.
GI Film Festival San Diego: Wednesday through Oct. 22. AMC Mission Valley 20, Regal Carlsbad 12, the USS Midway Museum and the Museum of Photographic Arts. $8-$25. gifilmfestivalsd.org
