Explore the La Jolla Art & Wine Fest
The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival, presented by Wells Fargo, returns to Girard Avenue on Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. for yet another year of paint, prestige, gourmet food, craft beers, Baja wines and dazzling live entertainment. This two-day FREE art festival is home to over 150 artists who have been hand selected for their superb talent and unique artwork that will be featured across a half mile of beautiful La Jolla Village. This family-friendly art festival is the perfect chance to unwind and enjoy a weekend of inspiration and creativity in “The Jewel” of San Diego.
The Geppetto’s Family Art Center is back and better than ever with several activities for kids to enjoy while at the festival. Youngsters are encouraged to get hands-on and experience the joy of creating! Activities include a Lego Star Wars Building Project, Be Amazing Science activities, activities from La Jolla Library, and Arts & Crafts galore. Create Aquabead art, spray with water, let it dry and your creation is complete! Use yarn to weave an Ojo de Dios (commonly known as God’s Eye) or paint a masterpiece with Do a Dot paint markers. In addition to crafts, kids can transform their look with face painting to become a tiger, flower, or anything they imagine. Jump, wiggle, and hula hoop your way to fun and fitness with hula hoop activities provided by La Jolla YMCA.
It wouldn’t be LJAWF without the chance to get creative by painting on a car! This year we have an experience of a lifetime for our attendees: the opportunity to leave your own creative touch a 24 foot limo provided by La Jolla Social and La Jolla Golf Carts. You will also have the chance to share your gratitude and what you are thankful for on the Turkey Mural in conjunction with Turkey on the Table. The La Jolla Library will also be providing reading activities for kids.
Geppetto’s Family Art Center Special Guests:
Saturday 12 - 4 p.m.
Come meet Meredith Scott Lynn, CEO of Write Brain World (You’ll know her from her roles in Legally Blonde and Days of our Lives) and Maggie Wheeler, “Janice” from FRIENDS. Maggie Wheeler will be premiering her new amazing rhyming Write Brain Book. The book will be available for purchase and can be autographed at the event. Write Brain Books are a new creative writing line of wonderful illustrations used to make your own books and stories!
Saturday 11 - 5 p.m., Sunday 11 - 3 p.m.
Meet the co-creators of Turkey on the Table, Kerry Maunus and April George. They want to know what La Jolla is thankful for! Kids will be writing out their own thanks and attaching to our Turkey Mural. Geppetto’s is launching the San Diego premier of a new product called Turkey on the Table at the La Jolla Art and Wine Festival. Start a new Thanksgiving tradition in your home! Everyone writes what you are thankful for on a paper feather and you clip it on the back of an adorable turkey. For every turkey sold, meals are donated to Feeding America. Kerry and April will be signing or dedicating The Turkey on the Table purchases.
All profits raised benefit underfunded programs such as art, music, science, physical education, technology and on-site medical care at La Jolla public elementary and middle schools. For more information visit ljawf.com or call McFarlane Promotions, Inc. at 619 233 5008.
