CRSSD Festival expands lineup for fourth edition

Share

The lineup for this fall’s fourth edition of CRSSD Festival, the twice-yearly electronic music fete held at San Diego’s Waterfront Park, has expanded.

The latest additions to the bill for the Oct. 1 and 2 fete include Detroit house music DJ and producer MK (real name: Marc Kinchen) and Haitian-Canadian DJ, producer and electronic musician Kaytranada (real name: Louis Kevin Celestin). Kaytranada’s highly percussive aural fusion mixes soul, funk, hip-hop and contemporary dance music with elastic beats and a polyrhythmic approach that draws from his Haitian and Afro-Caribbean roots.

Other new CRSSD Festival acts announced Tuesday include Eagles & Butterflies (real name: Chris Barratt), an English-born, Los Angeles-based house and techno producer; Matrixxman (real name: Charles Duff), a Bay Area-based house and techno DJ; Rezz (real name: Isabelle Rezazadeh), a Niagra Falls-bred down-tempo-techno producer and DJ; and future bass duo Louis The Child (Chicago natives Freddy Kennett and Robby Hauldren, who this year completed his freshman year at USC).

These seven acts join the previously announced October CRSSD Festival lineup, which is headed by Miike Snow, DJ ZHU and DJ Bonobo.

CRSSD Festival debuted in early 2015 and proved so popular that a second edition was held last fall. The third iteration of the festival took place in March and drew a capacity audience of 15,000 for each of its two days. The festival is produced by San Diego FNGRS CRSSD.

Weekend passes, currently priced at $135 each, are available from the festival’s website.
