Cinema Under the Stars returns to Mission Hills
Enjoy hitting the theater to catch the newest releases, but crave a different movie-going experience beyond the status-quo? Step outside and catch a flick at Cinema Under the Stars in Mission Hills, returning for a winter cinema series on Jan. 15 through April 30.
The outdoor theater shows big blockbuster films on a 21-foot movie screen, as guests watch in cozy seats, strewn across the venue. Covered by a weatherproof cover, your viewing of the movie is protected from any unpredictable winter weather that may (but probably won’t) come by San Diego. The cinema also provides heaters and blankets for each guest to make sure the experience is as comfortable as possible.
The first showing of the season will be “The Martian,” starring Matt Damon, on Friday, Jan. 15 and Saturday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. Other top movies on the winter schedule include “The Intern” starring Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway and the award-winning “Steve Jobs” with Michael Fassbinder and Kate Winslet.
Beverages, popcorn and treats are available for $2 each. Street parking is free after 6 p.m. There is a paid parking lot located next to Tops Salon, at the corner of Goldfinch and Ft. Stockton streets as well. Tickets are $16 at the box office; $18 for online reservation.
