Big news: DiscoverSD and PacificSD join forces

Head’s up, readers! DiscoverSD is merging with PacificSD on Wednesday, Nov. 9. Here’s everything you need to know about the change taking place.

Q: So, what’s this change you speak of?

A: All DiscoverSD content ? both new and old ? will be housed at PacificSanDiego.com. You’ll also notice visual updates along with quicker load times and more mobile-friendly content.

Q: What is PacificSD?

A: The city’s most popular magazine, PacificSD (aka PACIFIC magazine) believes San Diego is the coolest city in the country. It exists to connect America’s Finest citizens with the best the city has to offer - via print, digital, social media, email and events. The San Diego Union-Tribune (which also owns DiscoverSD), acquired PacificSD in June 2016, bringing its founding team on-board.

Q: Why is the website changing?

A: DiscoverSD and PacificSD, two entertainment sites in San Diego, are joining forces to provide more cool stories and things to do. We’ll combine both platforms to feature expanded content in food and drink, entertainment, travel, fashion, contests and more. Readers will have more access to the experts who create content daily on the website and in the monthly print magazine.

Q: As a reader, do I have to make any changes?

A: Nope! If you have DiscoverSD.com bookmarked on your browser, you will be redirected to PacificSanDiego.com, and most of our social media that you follow will be merged, as well (with the exception of Twitter, which will require a new follow of @PacificSD). This change will come a little while after the merging of both websites.

Q: What can I expect from the change?

A: Expect more voices from writers covering a wide range of topics you love. You can also anticipate more robust content including features from PacificSD magazines, as well as things to do each day of the week at restaurants, bars and breweries.We will bring you new events to check out, and expand our social media engagement and contest opportunities.

Q: Will I be able to find my favorite DiscoverSD content on the new site?

A: Yes, we will continue to provide content from experts in the San Diego food, nightlife, music, fitness and other topics that show you just how cool life in San Diego really is.

Q: I’m a DSD Insider. Will I still get newsletters delivered to my Inbox?

A: Yes. While it make take on a new name, we will continue to deliver the best of San Diego straight to your desktop, tablet and phone.
