Audition for MasterChef Season 8

Share

Last year, we watched Claudia Sandoval - the fiery Latina from La Mesa - take home the title of MasterChef Season 6, making San Diego proud as she walked away with a $250,000 prize and a cookbook deal.

Think you have what it takes to be the next big winner from SD? The casting team at MasterChef is looking for a new batch of home chefs to compete on the popular FOX show, and they’re starting their search first in San Diego.

Taking place at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront (1 Park Blvd., downtown), the open casting call invites all aspiring chefs, home cooks and food freaks to apply. In fact, the search is specifically for talented amateur cooks, not professionals, to show a range of self-taught cooking styles.

Attendees should bring one prepared dish to serve judges. Each will receive just three minutes to plate the dish and make a lasting impression.

The open casting call will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Claudia Sandoval and fellow San Diegan and MasterChef contestant Nick Nappi will both be in attendance.

To audition for Season 8, follow these steps provided by MasterChef:

  1. Pre-register your profile and pick your open call location in advance.
  2. Download the application and bring it with you to an open call.
  3. Bring your food/ingredients to be finished and plated once you enter the audition room. NOTE: There will NOT be a kitchen to cook or warm up your dish so come prepared.
