Calling all culinary creatives! The casting team at MasterChef is looking for the next big winner on the popular FOX show, and they’re starting their search first in San Diego.
Taking place at San Diego’s Westin Hotel (400 West Broadway) on Saturday, Aug. 15, the open casting call invites all aspiring chefs, home cooks and food freaks to apply. In fact, the search is specifically for talented amateur cooks, not professionals, to show a range of self-taught cooking styles.
Attendees should bring one prepared dish to serve judges. Each will receive just three minutes to plate the dish and make a lasting impression.
The open casting call will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Currently, MasterChef Season 6 still has two San Diegans left in the top nine spots: Nick Nappi and Claudia Sandoval are holding it down for SD, beating out other chefs week after week.
To audition for Season 7, follow these steps provided by MasterChef:
- Pre-register your profile and pick your open call location in advance. PRE-REGISTER HERE.
- Download the application form HERE, and bring it with you to an open call.
- Bring your food/ingredients to be finished and plated once you enter the audition room. NOTE: There will NOT be a kitchen to cook or warm up your dish so come prepared! Also, they will NOT supply you with dishes, utensils, etc., so you must bring your own.
