“America’s Got Talent” holds San Diego audition

Think you have that special je ne sais quoi to make it as an entertainer? Now’s your chance to find out. Show off your skills at the open audition for “America’s Got Talent” Season 11 at the San Diego Convention Center on Jan. 12.

The San Diego audition is the seventh stop on the nationwide tour to find America’s next big talent. If you’d like to showcase your skills, you can easily audition for a spot in the local search. The tour stops in New York, Detroit, San Jose, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. After San Diego, the tour will continue onto Kansas City, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Orlando and finally ends in Dallas.

Simon Cowell is the only confirmed judge for Season 11, joining the show to replace Howard Stern. The judges expected to return include Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel.

The audition welcomes all ages to apply. 18-and-under attendees will need to complete a special release and be accompanied by a guardian who is at least 21-years-old. Acts who are auditioning with five or more adults in their act only need to have one member register the entire group.

Selected participants will be competing for the grand prize of $1 million dollars and a stage show in Las Vegas. Last year’s winner, Paul Zerdin, was a ventriloquist and 2013’s winner, Mat Franco, was a magician. All types of acts are welcome to enter, from comedians to musicians to sword-swallowers.
