Top concerts this week in San Diego (July 22-28)
Top performances coming to town this week include Cuco, The Used, Crankdat and Roman Flügel.
7.24: Rodrigo y Gabriela
Last summer, the Mexican guitar duo covered a completely sold-out three-night stand at the Belly Up in Solana Beach. The one-time couple opts for a single performance under the stars at Humphreys this time around.
@ Humphreys Concerts by the Bay,
Cuco, aka 19-year-old singer/producer Omar Banos, released his latest EP, Chiquito, in 2018. Ahead of his forthcoming major full-length debut, Banos has already released a few singles so far this year – Fix Me with Dillon Francis, Hydrocodone and May’s Bossa No Sé featuring Jean Carter.
7.26: The Used
After hitting San Diego in recent years as part of 91X’s Wrex The Halls show and the Vans Warped Tour, Utah rockers The Used headline the Rockstar Energy Drink Disrupt Festival which also features Thrice, Circa Survive, Sum 41, Atreyu and others.
@ North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre,
U.K. house DJ and producer Jon Wafer has remixed the likes of Groove Armada, Hot Since 82, Matador and Pirupa. Last year, he teamed with Kenny Dope on the single Hypnotic, as well as releasing another one on his own, October’s Bondage.
Despite performing together for over a decade, Texas-based DJ/producer duo Tritonal (aka David Reed and Chad Cisneros) made their real breakthrough partnering with The Chainsmokers on 2015’s hit single, Until You Were Gone. Last month, the pair released their third full-length studio album, U & Me. It features guest appearances from the likes of Rachel Platten, Sultan + Shepard, Lourdiz, LEVV and Apek.
Twenty-two-year-old trap DJ and producer Christian Smith (aka Crankdat) infamously gave up a full-ride athletic scholarship to pursue a music career and has remixed the likes of DJ Snake, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Skrillex, Jaden Smith and Sheck Wes. Smith’s debut EP, Gearworld, Vol. 1, was released in April and features guest appearances from shYbeast, Gammer, Sara Skinner and more.
7.28: Roman Flügel
Veteran German DJ and producer Roman Flügel started by releasing music under a slew of aliases including Ro 70, Acid Jesus, Eight Miles High, Alter Ego, Sensorama and more. He released his latest album, Themes, in 2018, and is set to drop a new, 2-song single, Fun Fort, this month.
7.28: The Raconteurs
Jack White is back in a band! No, not that one. One of the other ones. The Raconteurs’ original lineup is back after releasing their third studio album together, Help Us Stranger, in June. It’s the first album from the band since 2008’s Consolers of the Lonely.
