Jonas Brothers announce ‘Happiness Begins’ tour, including San Diego concert

The reunited Jonas Brothers are following up their recent chart-topping hit, “Sucker,” with what is being billed as the 1990s teen-pop trio’s first major headlining tour in nearly a decade. In fact, JoBros — as the group is known by many fans — last toured in 2013, after which they disbanded.

Perhaps that tour six years ago wasn’t considered major. This one, billed as the “Happiness Begins” tour, certainly qualifies. Its title comes from JoBros’ upcoming fifth album, “Happiness Begins,” which is due out June 7 on Republic Records.

The 40-date concert trek opens Aug. 7 at American Airlines Arena in Miami and concludes Oct. 20 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. It includes an Oct. 17 show at Pechanga Arena San Diego (the venue known until last fall as Valley View Casino Center).

All tour dates and cities appear below, along with ticket information. Bebe Rexha and Jordan McGraw will be the opening acts.

In a statement released Wednesday morning and attributed to all three Jonas Brothers, the trio said: “We’re so excited to announce this tour and get in front of our fans again! To kick things off we’ve partnered with American Airlines and Mastercard to offer their cardholders special access and experiences throughout our tour. We can’t wait for everyone to see what we have planned!”

Tickets for JoBros’ Oct. 17 Pechanga Arena San Diego show are priced from $29.95 to $149.95 each, plus service fees. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. May 10 at axs.com (although, as of this writing, the concert here does not appear on the Pechanga Arena website).

A pre-sale for American Airlines AAdvantage Mastercard holders begins Tuesday at 10 a.m. local time. A pre-sale for Jonas Brothers fan club members begins May 8 at 10 a.m. local time, while a Live Nation pre-sale begins at 10 a.m. May 9.

In a 2017 Union-Tribune interview to preview his San Diego concert with his band DNCE, Joe Jonas did not sound like he was eager to join (or re-join) another group, saying: “Thank you, but no; I’m really enjoying the new band I’m in’.”

But that was then. Now, it appears Joe and his siblings are happy to whistle a new/old tune again. Let “Happiness” begin again.
