Shakira’s vocal cord problems are not clearing up as quickly as she had hoped.

On Wednesday, the Colombian-born pop music superstar announced she was postponing her European and U.S. “El Dorado” tour dates, including her Feb. 9 San Diego show at Valley View Casino Center.

This follows the postponement of her fall dates in Europe, where her tour had been scheduled to begin Nov. 8 in Cologne, Germany. The tour will still begin in Cologne, but not until June 5. All new tour dates appear below.

The postponements are the result of Shakira’s vocal cord hemorrhage, which has taken longer to heal than anticipated.

“Though I very much hoped to be able to recover my vocal cords in time to pick the tour back up in January, and after exploring many options to that effect, I have accepted that this is an injury that simply needs more time and care to heal,” Shakira said in a Wednesday statement on her website.

“I feel for all of you who planned ahead to come to these shows and who have been so patient as I took the time needed to figure out the best course of action with my doctors.

“Thankfully, I am so relieved and happy to share with you that I will be getting back on the road in June 2018 with my El Dorado World Tour in Europe, and the U.S., with Latin America dates to be announced soon. …”

Tickets for the postponed shows will be valid for the new dates, or can be refunded at point of purchase. Shakira’s most recent performance at Valley View Casino Center was in 2010.
