Juanes announces 2018 concert tour of North America with singer Mon Laferte
Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes, one of the biggest superstars in Latin music, has announced his 2018 North American “Amarte” concert tour with Chilean singer-songwriter Mon Laferte. The two performed together Oct. 8 for an audience of more than 150,000 in Mexico City as part of the “Mexicans United” fundraising concert to help relief efforts in the aftermath of the Sept. 7 and 19 earthquakes.
The tour will open April 20 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., and conclude May 20 at Temecula’s Pechanga Resort & Casino. It includes a May 16 show at San Diego State University’s Viejas Arena.
All dates and cities appear below, along with ticket information. Mexican singer-songwriter Caloncho will be the opening act.
The tour takes its name from Juanes’ 2017 release, “Mis Planes Son Amarte,” billed as the first major “visual album” by a Latin American artist. His most recent San Diego performance was in late 2016 at the diversity-promoting “Rise Up AS ONE” all-star concert, which was held at the international point of entry that connects San Diego with Tijuana’s A.L. Rodriguez International Airport.
To date, Juanes has won 23 Latin Grammy Awards, more than any other performer. In November, “Mis Planes Son Amarte” won Best Pop Rock Album honors at the 18th annual Latin Grammy Awards. Mon Laferte took home the award for Best Alternative Song for “Amárrame,” her duet with Juanes.
Tickets for all concerts on the “Amarte” tour go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com and livenation.com. A pre-sale for Citi card holders begins Tuesday at 10 a.m., along with a VIP package pre-sale. Several other pre-sales will also be held.
Tickets for the May 16 San Diego concert are priced between $29.95 and $129.95, plus service charges.
