Daryl Hall and John Oates announce joint tour with Train
Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Daryl Hall and John Oates are mounting a four-month concert tour with Train that will feature individual sets by each band, followed by a grand finale in which both will perform side by side.
Whether or not this will result in any live mash-ups of their respective hits — “Drops of Maneater” or “Out of Soul Sister Time,” anyone? — remains to be seen. A yet-to-be-announced opening act will be added to the lineup at a later date.
The tour kicks off May 1 at Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center and wraps up Aug. 11 at Seattle’s Key Arena. It includes an Aug. 4 show at San Diego State University’s Viejas Arena.
All dates and cities appear below, along with ticket information.
“This is going to be a tour filled with fun as well as great music,” Hall said in a statement released Monday morning. “I love Train, and have a close relationship with Pat Monahan, going back to our ‘Live From Daryl’s House’ show together.”
Monahan was equally effusive, saying: “I’ve known Daryl Hall and John Oates for a few years now, and — after being their fan my entire life — we now get to tour with them and spend time with legends in the world of music. This will be a career highlight for all of us in Train.”
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. next Monday, Jan. 29, at ticketmaster.com. Tickets for the San Diego show are priced between $49 and $149.50 each, with VIP packages going for (gulp!) $500, plus service charges.
A pre-sale for Citi card holders begins Tuesday at 10 a.m.
