Watch ‘The Wizard of Oz’ with a live orchestra soundtrack

Share

The folks over at the San Diego Symphony are at it again. After a successful performance along with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, this time the symphony will perform while The Wizard of Oz plays on a giant screen. This one-of-a-kind event takes place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 15 at the Copley Symphony Hall (750 B St., downtown).

As if that weren’t reason enough to attend this unique event, there also will be a pre-concert costume contest where guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character from the movie. If you only had a brain, this would be a no-brainer. The winner of the contest, which begins at 7:15 p.m., will earn a four-pack of tickets to Bayside Summer Nights, the symphony’s summer home along the Embarcadero.

If costumes aren’t your bag, there will be movie-themed cocktails available in the lobby before the show provided by Snake Oil Cocktail Company. Try their special concoctions The Emerald City (with vodka, smashed cucumber, muddled basil, fresh lime and agave nectar) or The Ruby Slipper (with bourbon, strawberry jam, rosemary reduction and pressed lemon).
