Weezer is first band announced to perform at KAABOO Del Mar
The full lineup for the 2017 edition of the upscale KAABOO Del Mar festival won’t be announced for nearly two months. But Weezer has been confirmed as the first act booked to perform at the annual music, food, drink and comedy fete when the event returns in September for its third edition.
Long a San Diego favorite, Weezer’s most recent area performance was last August at Sleep Train Amphitheatre.
The full 2017 KAABOO Del Mar lineup will be announced on March 23.
KAABOO is the brainchild of Bryan E. Gordon, the Denver-based chairman of The Madison Companies LLC, the multibillion-dollar private investment firm he co-founded in 1996. He bills the festival, which is held on multiple outdoor and indoor stages at the Del Mar Racetrack and adjacent fairgrounds, as a “mixperience.”
Last year’s edition of KAABOO was headlined by Jimmy Buffet, Aerosmith and Jack Johnson. The first KAABOO, in 2015, was headlined by No Doubt, Zac Brown Band and The Killers.
General admission KAABOO tickets, priced at $219 each for a three-day pass, are now available from the festival’s website. So are three-day Hang Five VIP passes, priced at $719 each, and three-day Hang Ten VIP passes, priced at $2,599 each.
