“I’m so proud to announce our 11th year of Bro-Am - it’s shaping up to be the best yet,” said Jon Foreman, Switchfoot’s lead singer. “We are deeply moved to see our community come together to help create an event that supports these very incredible kids. It remains my favorite day of the year.”

Since 2005, the North County band has helped raise over $1,000,000 for children’s charities in San Diego with Bro-Am. Funds come from event vendors, corporate surf team entries and an annual auction, which will this year be held at a private San Diego estate on July 8. This year also marks the first time the Bro-Am will add an online auction, which will run June 28 through July 11.

“What it takes to be a hero is adversity, and these kids are true fighters,” said Foreman in a 2014 San Diego Union-Tribune interview. “They’re fighting to graduate from high school and figure out who they are, without knowing where they’ll sleep that night. For me, that narrative is incredibly compelling.”

This year’s primary Bro-Am beneficiaries include the Encinitas Scholarship Program, which provided scholarships for low-income resident youth, and the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) Humanitarian Fund. All donations can be submitted here.

Switchfoot will also perform June 19 at the San Diego County Fair’s Heineken Grandstand Stage. On July 9, the band kicks off its 2015 U.S. summer tour at The Masonic in San Francisco.
