New acts added to San Diego County Fair lineup
The San Diego County Fair has added three new performers to its 2017 Heineken Grandstand Stage season lineup.
In order, the three are: “American Idol” alum Lauren Alaina, with Sundance Head, June 2; Collective Soul, June 14; and Grand Funk Railroad, June 15.
The current edition of Grand Funk features two of the band’s original members - bassist Mel Schacher and drummer Don Brewer. The lineup is completed by singer Max Carl, former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick and keyboardist Tim Cashion.
The three new fair acts join a previously announced Grandstand Stage lineup that also includes Patti LaBelle, Toby Keith, Frankie Valli and Grammy Award-winning San Diego band Switchfoot.
Admission to the concerts by Alaina, Collective Soul and Grand Funk Railroad are free with fair admission. They go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. at the fair box office in Del Mar, online at ticketmaster.com and by phone at (800) 745-3000.
In addition, tickets for terrace seating are available for each of the the three concerts for $24 per person, or $40 including fair admission. Tickets for seating on the second & fourth level of the grandstand cost $17 for each of the three concerts, or $34 including fair admission.
In other Grandstand Stage concert news, the June 11 performance by Banda MS has been canceled. No replacement act has been announced yet.
