New Kids on the Block coming to San Diego
New Kids on the Block returns to San Diego on Monday, May 11, at the Viejas Arena as part of the blockbuster summer excursion spanning the United States that also features three Canadian stops. The concert will kick off at 7 p.m. with the help of special guests TLC and Nelly.
“We are thrilled to be able to join pop icons NKOTB and Nelly on tour,” said TLC in a written statement. “We are equally excited to be back on the road connecting with our fans in such huge arenas.”
The 40-city tour is being dubbed “The Main Event,” and boasts a 360-degree, in-the-round set designed to allow an unobstructed view of the band during its performance. The staging concept ensures every fan in the house will be a part of the action regardless of seating arrangements.
“We always have something special up our sleeves,” said NKOTB member Donnie Wahlberg in a press release about the event. “Our fans keep asking us to come back out on the road, and we want to keep giving them what they want. We wanted to make sure it was something new and fresh and fun and totally worthwhile for all of our supporters year after year.”
The group’s most recently-released “10” album is its sixth studio production, and was available in April 2013. The 13-track set debuted at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 and was the first material the band had released since 2008.
Tickets for the event are available through Live Nation San Diego and are on sale now. Tickets range in price from $29.50 to $99.50 depending on seating location in the arena. Designated parking is available for guests in PS4 and PS5 and costs $15 per vehicle. Special event trolley service also is available through the Trolley’s Green Line.
Cameras are not permitted into Viejas Arena for this event. Concertgoers who bring a camera to the gates will be asked to either return it to their vehicle or check it in to property check-in.
