Matchbox Twenty singer Rob Thomas apparently enjoyed his 2016 tour with Counting Crows so much that he is doing it again, only this time he’s bringing the rest of Matchbox Twenty with him for the ride.

Thomas and Counting Crows teamed up for a joint tour last year that included a September show at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre at San Diego State University.

Now, Matchbox Twenty and Counting Crows are teaming up for their joint A Brief History of Everything Else 2017 tour. It opens July 12 in Spokane, concludes Oct. 1 in Dallas and includes a July 28 date at Mattress Firm Amphitheatre (the venue formerly known as Sleep Train Amphitheatre) in Chula Vista. All of the dates and cities appear below.

“To be honest, we took a vote after last year and decided to spend every summer with Rob from now on,” Counting Crows’ singer Adam Duritz said in a statement released Monday. “Can. Not. Wait.”

Thomas, in his statement, seems to be holding out an olive branch to his band mates in Matchbox Twenty, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary and has not released a new album since 2012.

“No matter what I will ever do, nothing feels like home as much as playing these songs with these guys and it never will, " Thomas said. “And I can’t wait to spend another summer out there on the road with the Crows.”

A ticket pre-sale begins Tuesday for Matchbox Twenty club members, followed by a Wednesday pre-sale for Citi card holders and several other pre-sales. Tickets to the general public go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through and, and by phone at 800.745.3000.

Tickets for the Chula Vista show are priced between $29.50 and $99.50 each, plus service charges.
