Del Mar Racetrack Concerts 2015 lineup
By name alone, the long defunct Icelandic band The Sugarcubes, veteran comedian Carrot Top and Seattle’s Band of Horses would seem like ideal candidates for the 2015 Del Mar Summer Concert Series. Instead, the Del Mar Racetrack’s annual weekend music series - which is presented under the auspices of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club - will offer its usual mix of reggae, rock and a left twist or two.
The lineup for the series, which runs July 17 through Sept. 16, includes Weezer, Pepper, SoCal punk-rock mainstays The Offspring, musical parodist Weird Al and such Jamaican-bred veterans as The Wailers and Ziggy Marley. English electronic music star Paul Oakenfold will appear Sept. 4.
The artists for July 17 and 31, and for Aug. 7, have yet to be announced. This suggests that these performers have yet to be confirmed or, equally likely, that they already have pending area concerts jere and the Del Mar series cannot announce them until after those pending performances have taken place. (The full list of dates and acts appears below.)
This will be the fifth year the Del Mar Summer Concert Series will be held at the standing-room-only Seaside Stage, which is located not far beyond the west end of the racetrack’s Grandstand. Concerts are free with racetrack admission. Concertgoers arriving after the last race of the day will be charged a $20 admission fee. Attendees most be 18 or older for all concerts.
Performances are scheduled to begin shortly after the last race of the day. On Saturdays and Sundays, the post time for the first race is usually at 2 p.m. On Fridays, the post time for the first race is at 4 p.m. General parking costs $10; valet parking is $20. Free shuttle service is available from and to the nearby Solana Beach train station.
