CRSSD Festival sets March festival dates, lineup
Flume, Blood Orange, Duke Dumont, Bob Moses, AlunaGeorge and Lane 8 head the list of performers confirmed to perform March 4 and 5 at CRSSD Festival at San Diego’s Waterfront Park.
The lineup for the electronic music marathon also includes the U.K. duo Snakehips and the West Coast debut of another U.K. duo, London-based Dusky. A list of all 45 acts confirmed so far appears below.
Tickets go on sale Dec. 27 at noon at crssdfest.com. As of this writing, prices have not yet been announced for the 21-and-up event.
This will mark the fifth time the edgy electronic music fete has been held since it debuted at Waterfront Park in early 2015. All but one of the four previous editions of CRSSD Festival have drawn a capacity audience of 15,000 per day.
The event is produced by FNGRS CRSSD. The homegrown San Diego production company has earned a lofty reputation, here and beyond, for eschewing aggressive, amped-up EDM acts n favor of showcasing electronic music performers who cater to devotees, not casual fans.
Or, as San Diego’s DJ Porterhaus (real name: Mitch Porter) told the Union-Tribune in September: “Promoters used to be scared to dive into the underground electronic music scene and all its sub-genres; CRSSD is one of the first to start bringing those sub-genres to San Diego. A lot of EDM festivals just play what’s on the radio, but CRSSD features the full spectrum.”
The March edition of CRSSD Festival will mark a return for Lane 8, who has previously performed at the event and brought his This Never Happened tour to San Diego earlier this month for a Dec. 9 show at Bang Bang.
That tour was unique for an electronic music artist because Lane 9 (real name: Daniel Goldstein) banned the use of cell phones, the better to encourage fans to engage in a live music experience. “Obviously, I can’t prevent people from using their phones at festivals,” Lane 8 told the Union-Tribune in an interview published Dec. 8. “But I love CRSSD Festival. It’s amazing.”
