CRSSD By Day + After Dark brings festival acts to local venues
This weekend’s eighth edition of CRSSD Fest follows the trend of booking top-tier talent. Duke Dumont, Claptone, Bob Moses, John Digweed, and Nina Kravitz are all set to perform during the two-day festival on Sept. 29-30.
But for an event that celebrates a culture born from all-night raves, it’s hard for some fans to reconcile the 10 p.m. end-time each night (thanks to City noise ordinances).
However, when the Ocean View, Palms, and City Steps stages empty on Saturday and Sunday evening from San Diego’s Waterfront Park, an entirely different CRSSD experience begins.
CRSSD After Dark bridges the gap with off-site performnces, Thursday through Sunday, at different San Diego locales. Bang Bang, Kettner Exchange, Music Box, El Camino, Vin De Syrah, Rich’s, and Spin will all host CRSSD-related events after the gates of the festival close each night (as well as the night before and even By Day for a couple of brunch sets).
Bang Bang, as part of its ongoing fifth birthday celebration, will host a DJ set from former CRSSD favorites Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs on Thursday night, as well as a set from Will Clarke on Friday. Also on Friday, Spim will help kick off the big weekend with a special set from Layton Giordani.
Then, on both nights of CRSSD, the aformentioned group of venues will feature a variety of this year’s performers, as well as CRSSD-related talent, including sets from two current headliners, Bob Moses and Nina Kravitz.
