Del Mar’s gem by the sea celebrates Opening Day with spectacular flair. This year, the after-party ups the elegance with beats by DJ FishFonics and Gabe Vega accentuating the ocean views over the pool deck and lobby. Reserved private cabanas with bottle service are available to enhance the experience. Tasting stations and tray-passed bites from KITCHEN 1540 and Coastline will keep guests going all night. 5 p.m. to midnight. $229 per person; $250 at the door. After the final horse has crossed the finish line on July 15, the opening day festivities for the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club 2016 season will just be getting started. For the eighth year, L’Auberge Del Mar, a Destination Hotel, will host its famous Opening Day After Party to celebrate another season at the Del Mar Racetrack. It’s the quintessential Opening Day experience.

From 5 p.m. to midnight, racing fans get to keep the party going with a fabulous event that makes the most of L’Auberge Del Mar’s outdoor spaces and ocean and sunset views. DJ FishFonics and DJ Gabe Vega will help turn the pool area into a dance party, complete with jockey-themed go-go dancers. For those looking for a truly chic and luxurious experience, the reserved private cabanas are the way to go. Guests can enjoy private seating and bottle service overlooking the Pacific.

As attractions go, the food will hold its own at the After Party. Tasting stations and tray-passed bites from KITCHEN 1540 and Coastline will keep you going all night. Celebrate with foie gras with pickled strawberries, tacos al pastor, wagyu beef short ribs and more. The Dessert Station will be stocked with treats including Del Mar Lemon Cupcakes and Bales of Hay Rice Krispy Treats. Craft beer and cocktails will be available at cash bars throughout the resort, including the resort’s signature “Mulep.” This cross between a Moscow Mule and Mint Julep is a refreshing drink perfect for racing season.

Before the After Party, L’Auberge Del Mar is partnering with Drybar. Get your hair styled perfectly to go with your hat or fascinator before the first call to post or to refresh for the party.

And if you party a little too hard Friday night, you’ll want to recover at the Bloody Mary and Mulep brunch on Saturday. It’s open to hotel guests and all party-goers-your wristband from Friday will get you back in. Relax by the pool with live music and of course, Bloody Marys and Muleps.

Tickets for the Opening Day After Party can be purchased online at store.laubergedelmar.com/hotel-events. Tickets are $229 plus tax through July 14. If tickets are available on Opening Day, they will be $250 plus tax, but L’Auberge Del Mar expects the After Party to sell out in advance, so purchase your tickets now.
