Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in style at Candelas on the Bay

Food and music lovers can enjoy Cinco de Mayo in style at Candelas on the Bay in Coronado this Thursday. The restaurant, known for its contemporary “Mexico City-style” cuisine, is hosting DJ Alex Cruz for an evening of tranquil, deep house music perfect for dancing and socializing.

Pre-sale tickets are available for $15 ($20 at the door), and guests will have exclusive access to the interior of the restaurant and bar for the night. Arrive around 7 p.m. to enjoy a cocktail with the sunset and take in the beautiful San Diego skyline before Cruz starts spinning at 8 p.m. until about 1:30 a.m. Most of the tables inside will be removed to create a dance floor for the 21+ event. The terrace will remain open to the public for dinner service, and tacos, tequila and everything else you’d expect from a Cinco de Mayo celebration will be served to guests inside as well.

Cruz, an accomplished DJ with a strong following in Europe, is gaining recognition in the United States. His performances are captivating, with a unique mix of electronic music along with acoustic, percussive and vocals. He’s also guaranteed to fill the dance floor and get people moving. The creator of the Candelas concept, Alberto Mestre, has been a fan of Cruz’s music and is excited to host him at the restaurant-it will be his only stop in San Diego on his world tour. His music will provide the perfect ambiance to complement Candelas’ tradition of delivering elegant, trendsetting experiences to San Diego food-lovers.

Candelas is contesting the assumption that Coronado goes to bed at 7 p.m., starting with this Cinco de Mayo event. They want to provide more nightlife options for locals and visitors. More events will follow throughout the summer, offering locals an opportunity to meet, mingle and have fun after the sun goes down.
