San Diego is back on Carrie Underwood’s radar.
After being overlooked in the spring 2016 itinerary for her “The Storytellers Tour - Stories in the Round,” and again on the subsequently announced fall leg of the tour, the country pop star and 2005 “American Idol” winner has finally come to her senses.
Underwood, who has won five Grammy Awards and sold 14 million albums to date, has now added a San Diego “Storytellers” tour date. The 33-year-old vocal star will perform Sept. 16 at Valley View Casino Center (formerly the San Diego Sports Arena). Easton Corbin and The Swon Brothers will open the show.
By coincidence, her concert here coincides with the opening day of the 2016 KAABOO Del Mar festival, although it is unclear how many area music fans may consider this a scheduling conflict.
Tickets for Underwood’s Valley View concert are priced at $49.50 to $79.50 each, plus service charges.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. May 6 at axs.com and by phone at (888) 929-7849.
An online-only pre-sale for Underwood fan club members and for VIP packages will begin May 2 at 10 a.m.
One dollar from each ticket sold will be contributed to the Checotah Animal, Town, and School)Foundation, which supports education and literacy programs in Underwood’s hometown, Checotah, Oklahoma.
