The Brew & Food Festival is returning for its second year on June 4 with another round of craft beer and culinary collisions at Waterfront Park. This year, they’re adding more brewery and chef collaborations in what promises to be a delicious and creative day.
Beer festivals are almost a weekly event around here, so what makes the Brew & Food Festival stand out? “We decided to focus as much effort on the food and music as the beer,” said Brian Chapin, founder of Motley Brews, which is hosting the festival. “Our goal is to focus more attention on unique collision between craft beer and culinary worlds.”
In addition to the impressive lineup of over 70 breweries (pouring over 200 craft brews), Brew & Food Festival will feature a culinary program headlined by Chef Javier Plascencia of Bracero Cocina de Raiz, among other restaurants, and Chef Chad White, Top Chef Season 13 contestant. They’ll be serving beer-inspired dishes in the Mad Craft VIP Area, including a whole hog gordita with ghost pepper salsa and three different kinds of ceviche. General admission festival-goers can catch their live demonstrations throughout the day. Chef Justin Kingsley Hall, owner of SLO-Boy in Las Vegas, will also serve Lamb de Padre to the VIP ticket holders and make some pop-up tasting appearances in the general admission area.
No one will go hungry at the Brew & Food Fest, with local favorites like S&M Sausage & Meat, Small Goods, So Rich Chocolates and more serving everything from Bacon Bacon Bacon Brats to Ghost Chile Chocolate in the Gastropub Grottos.
And what would a festival be without music? The Brew & Food Festival promises two live stages, with Elektic Voodoo, GrooveSession and Grizzly Business on the Main Stage Trevor Green and Casey Turner performing on the Solo Sessions Stage. If that’s not your jam, check out the Silent Disco Dome, with dueling DJs Shell Shock and Yodah on separate channels. Jonny Tarr will also jump between channels to layer in some electric saxophone and other unique instrumentation.
