Get ready to sweat at Side Bar
Join Side Bar for its latest party on the dance floor — only swap cocktail glasses for water bottles, and dress shoes for barre socks.
On Thursday, May 2, local nightclub Side Bar will partner with exercise studio Pure Barre for a “fierce, high-energy fitness event” titled Side Barre (see what they did there?). The downtown-based venue offers a 50-minute workout class presented by the barre franchise, which has six locations in San Diego including East Village and Hillcrest.
Though a nightclub may seem like an odd fit for a pop-up workout class, Side Bar completed a large renovation last year and wanted to showcase the design in a unique way.
New additions to the downtown hot spot include a full-service lounge with bright colors, booth seating and an overhead floral fixture, and the nightclub section now features a custom light installation that spans the ceiling and pairs with its sound system. Aside from moving a few of the bottle service tables, everything will remain in place for the class.
Instructors Katt Mackin and Meg Hamilton will lead the workout, which is a fusion of the studio’s most popular Pure Barre classes. The class blends components of Pilates, yoga and ballet to target strength, cardio and flexibility. DJ XP will spin a curated workout soundtrack complimented by a light show help pump up the crowd.
After sweating, prepare to savor. Indulge post-workout with free appetizers and two complimentary cocktails featuring Suja Juice. Plus, receive with a swag bag filled with Pure Barre goodies, a Suja branded cooling/yoga towl, mesh bag and Suja tank top.
Tickets are $40 online and the 21+ event is limited to 30 spaces. All skill levels and genders are welcome to get their barre on in style.
