On the buzzing corner of Sixth Avenue and Market Street, there’s a high-energy flow of folks popping in and out of hot-spots like Blush Ice Bar, Side Bar and Bang Bang. But if you look up, you’ll spy a brand new escape. Performance Pilates has opened at 560 Sixth Ave., taking over the previous Hot Body Pilates space with new owners Shayna Keel and Jordan White.
The two former trainers of Hot Body jumped at the opportunity to take over the 1,600 square foot studio featuring floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the heart of the Gaslamp. Performance Pilates offers private, semi-private and small group classes using a range of Pilates equipment including reformers, cadillacs, wunda chairs, ladder barrels and more apparatuses that tone and define the body in innovative, challenging ways.
Customized to each client’s goals, classes aim towards improving strength and flexibility, weight loss, improved posture, rehabilitation of old injuries, core and stability strength and more. Along with the studio’s renovation, Keel and White are hoping to keep classes small and increase the personal aspects of fitness. They’ve also invited personal trainer Chiheb Soumer to provide sessions in the space for clients interested in cross training and boxing.
Performance Pilates will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, Oct. 2 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The party is set to include appetizers from Blush Ice Bar, a hosted beer and wine bar from The New Yorker, cold-pressed juice tastings from Juice Saves and personal training demos. Discount personal training packages will also be offered to guests during the night. The evening will conclude with a raffle giveaway with multiple prizes including a Pilates and personal training package valued at over $1,000. Arrive early; Gift bags will be given to the first 25 guests.
