Jamie Foxx heads MLB All-Star Legends & Celebrity team

Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx, who attended San Diego’s United States International University between 1986 and 1988, heads the list of stars announced Tuesday who will play Sunday at Petco Park in Major League Baseball’s All-Star Legends & Celebrity softball game.

At least one other Oscar-winner, previously announced “Whiplash” actor J.K. Simmons, will also play in the game, which takes place following Sunday’s SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Petco Park with top Minor League prospects going head to head in a 9-inning contest that will air live on MLB Network, and SiriusXM.

The list of other confirmed All-Star Legends & Celebrity softball game players includes several San Diego sports legends, most notably former Padres shortstop Ozzie Smith, former Padres pitchers Trevor Hofmann and Rollie Fingers, and former Chargers quarterback Drew Brees, who has led the New Orleans Saints since 2006. Soccer star Landon Donovan, now an area resident, will also play.

At least two rock musicians will also participate in the game - Tim Foreman, the bassist in Grammy-winning San Diego band Switchfoot and previously announced Fall Out Boy front Man Pete Wentz. San Diego native Kyle Mooney, a cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” will also play.

They’ll be joined by an array of other athletes, actors, models, celebrities, including Emmy-winning TV host Andy Cohen, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” co-star Terry Crews, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and former Prince collaborator Damari Lewis, actor Morris Chestnut, Olympic Gold Medal softball winner Jennie Finch, “Modern Family” cast member Rico Rodriguez, actor/producer Mark Consuelos and three Disney Channel stars - Caeron Boyce, Karan Brar, Pewyton Meyer and Raini Rodriguez

Two Wounded Warrior softball Team players, Sgt. Martin Diaz and Sgt. Chris Gary, will also participate.
