Extreme Sailing Series floats into San Diego for first time
The Extreme Sailing Series is coming to San Diego for a four-day event, Oct. 19-22, where spectators can watch as some of the world’s top sailors compete against one another racing in GC32 catamarans.
In its 11th season, the stadium racing series debuts Act 7 (of 8) of its global circuit in San Diego, which includes various events set up at the Race Village the home base for family activities, food, beer gardens and live music - all of which are open to the public.
Event highlights include the a Kids Zone, US Sailing Education Zone and free yoga classes on Harbor Island provided by Core Power Yoga on Friday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
There will be plenty of food to choose from as participating food trucks present at the event include Buqqa Gourmet Food Truck, Dos Bandidos, Okamoto Kitchen, Ralph & Richie’s, Bosnian Grill, Epic Eatz, Wall LLC and more.
The Race Village opens each day to the public at 10 a.m followed by daily Kiteboard Invitationals that begin at noon, leading up to the main daily races at 2 p.m.
Friday is Military Appreciation Day. Activities run from 1:15-5 p.m. and include an opening ceremony from the Color Guard, SkyDive Innovations parachute jump and live music from The Destroyers. Those with valid Military ID can access a VIP Foiling Club tent next to the water.
This event is free to the public (with an option to upgrade to VIP). VIP guests will have access to complimentary food and drink, meetings with the professional sailors and industry experts as well as an entertainment schedule including skippers’ briefings, sailor interviews and commentary.
