Salt Culture launches pop-up shop at The Pendry

Share

A bit of San Diego beach culture has made its way downtown this summer.

Salt Culture, a globally-inspired lifestyle boutique, is the brainchild of Sophie Machado, inspired by her world travels with her husband, surf legend Rob Machado.

The duo opened the Encinitas-based shop (originally named Salt Collection) in 2017 featuring items Sophie brought home from her trips. It currently offers a wide variety of fashion brands, home décor and gifts, as well as custom surfboards from Rob Machado.

Now, they have teamed up with the Gaslamp hotel Pendry San Diego to offer a pop-up shop, open now through July 1. The partnership — Pendry X Salt Culture — will feature a curated selection of the goods from its main storefront, as well as new additions.

Salt Culture’s pop-up shop at Pendry San Diego sells different shoes and men’s clothing brands than its location in Encinitas. The collection of women’s attire includes business outfits, clothing for a night out downtown, and resort lounge wear. Additionally, the temporary shop will focus on the modern traveler visiting America’s Finest City, carrying travel kits from Kopari, as well as unique gifts and accessories.

“(The selection) allows one to basically visit the Pendry without packing a suitcase,” Sophie Machado said.

The build out of the space — including refinishing the counter, reupholstering the furniture and curating the plant selection — was completed by Sophie and her Encinitas team.

After the pop-up shop closes, customers can still browse Salt Culture’s selection at the Encinitas store, 930 S. Coast Highway 101.
