Warby Parker opens in San Diego

Get those shades on, baby. The highly-coveted and oh-so-stylish Warby Parker is opening its first San Diego location at Westfield UTC mall this Saturday, Oct. 24.

Modeled after both a library and a glasses shop, the new Warby Parker will offer their men’s and women’s prescription glasses, sunglasses and books. Yes, books. For sale. From independent publishers. This is the new cool.

Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Warby Parker, Dave Gilboa, is actually from San Diego originally, but this will be the first SD location of the growing brand already hip in L.A., New York, Boston, San Francisco and more. Inside the shop, guests will find displays of books surrounding the glasses, as well as custom brass library lamps and leather seating. You can test your lenses and browse through the books for purchase from publishers such as McSweeney’s, New Directions and The Figures.

Floor-to-ceiling windows allow the space to capture the light and make sure you get a good look at your new frames. Services inside the store include same-day non-Rx purchases, optical measurements, frame adjustments, progressive lenses and more.

To celebrate the San Diego launch, they’re releasing a limited-edition pair of sunglasses. The Robinson in Jet Matte Black is offered exclusively at the UTC store with a custom lens cloth.

Warby Parker offers designer eyewear at reasonable prices, while leading the way for social conscious businesses; For every pair sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need. You can feel good and see clearer, all at once.
