Turn up the volume for Arts & Amps

Share

Karl Strauss is amped up for summer.

And that comes as no surprise, since its Arts & Amps event is back for a three-day stint on May 25, June 22 and July 27. Boasting live music and artwork, Karl Strauss Brewing Company showcases all-thing-local on the creative scene for the fifth year.

Karl Strauss’ Marketing Manager Brian Skarin, who oversees the event marketing program, came up with the idea back in 2014. Drawing on his experience growing up playing and seeing music and art shows, he saw the brewery’s tasting room and beer garden as a prime venue to host a big crowd.

Arts & Amps takes place in Pacific Beach at Karl Strauss’ main brewery and tasting room. With a long-standing presence in San Diego’s beer culture, the brewery seeks to support and promote other local groups by hosting concerts and art shows in the warmer months.

This year’s music lineup ranges from bluesy rock to Americana to hip-hop, mixing larger acts with up-and-coming artists. Tunes will be supplied by headliners Little Hurricane (May 25), Trouble in the Wind (June 22), and Creature Canyon (July 27). Openers Wild Wild Wets, Parker Meridien, and Taken By Canadians will join on the respective dates.

“We always want to work with bands and artists who we truly believe represent the best of San Diego, regardless of style or genre,” Skarin said. “We want people to come to these events knowing that whether they know the bands or artists on the bill, it’s going to be worth checking out from start to finish and that they’re in for a great show.”

In addition to the live music, listen to a set from Karl Strauss’ resident event DJ Ofier Zigner and watch a live mural painting from Cohort Collective. Cohort Collective, as well as Creative Souls on the West Coast, will both have their artwork featured on all three days, and Collin Worrel Photography will join the creative bunch on May 25.

Take in the music and art with a drink or two from Karl Strauss, who will pour its usual slew of brews on draft throughout the evening. More than 20 different house beers will be available, including small batches, special releases and its popular Boat Shoes Hazy IPA. Suds can be paired Gringas Tacos & Catering on May 25, while North County-based The Barrel Room offers bites in June and July.
