Professional wranglers get ready for Lakeside Rodeo

Share

Holding on to a bucking bronco for eight seconds is no easy feat — unless you’re a professional wrangler. This weekend, thousands of fans will cheer on some of the best circuit talent at the 55th annual Lakeside rodeo. Sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association, cowboys and cowgirls will compete in seven categories ranging from bull riding and tie down roping to saddle bronc riding and barrel racing. Little broncs ages 4 to 6 can get involved in a Stick Horse Race with the help of rodeo clown Kevin Higley. Also on tap: a vendor alley, snack bars with hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and drinks, and a specialty food booth. There’s also a Western Days Parade at 9:35 a.m. Saturday along Woodside and Maine avenues.

2019 Lakeside Rodeo: 7:30 p.m. Friday; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday. Lakeside Rodeo Arena, 12584 Mapleview St., Lakeside. $10-$20. (619) 443-5125. lakesiderodeo.com
