This speakeasy gives back to local food banks
Walk through the front door of Barons Market on Dec. 13 and keep walking. Continue past the fresh produce and craft brews, past the bulk bins and freshly baked bread. Head all the way to the stockroom to find Backroom Beer Pairings, a speakeasy-style beer and food pairing event.
The Wednesday event, from 6-8 p.m., will feature Black Market Brewing of Temecula. The brewery will provide a Hefeweizen, New England Style “The Yellow Can” IPA, Enemy Within with Passion Fruit and Tradecraft Sour/Watermelon Gose. Each beer will be paired with Barons food creations.
Barons has been hosting these types of events on a quarterly basis and each time with a different local brewer since 2013, when it was hosted at just the chain’s Point Loma location. Each pairing event is with a different beer partner and always has a charity component.
“Our Backroom Beer Pairings allow people to drink and be merry while supporting organizations that keep bellies full and hearts happy during the holidays,” says Rachel Shemirani, vice president of marketing at Barons. “These events are our biggest opportunity to give back to the communities that we love.”
The 2017 Backroom Beer Pairings events are projected to raise more than $20,000.
Tickets purchased to the upcoming event will help support the San Diego Food Bank and Feeding America of Riverside/San Bernadio Counties.
