Sweet Treat: Salivate, then sample at the CAKE expo
Calling all cake bakers, decorators and all-around sweet tooths in San Diego: The CAKE expo is coming to the Del Mar Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 29-30. Each day will kick off at 11 a.m. and run until 4 p.m.
The event will be a sugar-loving foodie’s heaven, filled with dessert-centric activities. Highlights will include live celebrity demos, hands-on cooking stations, baking advice, top of the line supplies at discounted prices, cookbook signings and more.
Stop by the make-and-take stations to create and bring home your best creations, or simply watch the pros do the work. There will be plenty of tastings of gourmet pies, rolls, breads, cakes, pastries, ice creams, cookies and tarts across the event.
Children ages 6 to 12 can dress up in their Halloween costumes and go trick-or-treating around the booths for $10. Youths can also check out the kids’ camp area, where they can try their hand at baking, too. Admission is free for kids 5 or younger.
Tickets are $59 per day or $79 for a weekend pass and can be purchased at eventbrite.com.
