Shave your head for childhood cancer research

Share

A shiny, clean-shaven noggin’ isn’t such a bad look when it transforms you into an instant hero.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation, one of the nation’s leading contributors in childhood cancer research, returns to take our tresses at the 7th Annual St. Baldrick’s Shave-A-Thon. On Saturday, March 7, The Commons downtown will transform into a good ol’ fashioned barber shop for the event that buzzes heads towards a better, brighter future. From noon to 4 p.m., generous participants can step in, shave off those locks and make a donation to the foundation that raised over $38 million in 2014.

The head-shaving celebration generates awareness, funds research for childhood cancer and helps survivors live long and healthy lives all through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

The ongoing efforts of the Shave-a-Thon have had buzz-worthy success. Last year in San Diego, 50 heads were shaved (including a few brave women), raising over $35,000 for the cause on a local level. This year, they’re seeking to raise $50,000.

Aside from the lovely locks falling to the floor, the afternoon will also feature a specialty St. Baldrick’s signature cocktail, donating a portion of the proceeds to the Foundation. The cocktail will be available at The Commons throughout the month of March.

A $10 donation at the door will secure admission. A $20 at the door will hook you up with a t-shirt and raffle ticket. 100% of the proceeds from the afternoon will go directly to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

The Commons is located at 901 4th Ave., downtown. For more information, visit stbaldricks.org.
