Boogie and bounce to Balboa Park for a Selena tribute show
Selena Quintanilla’s legacy will be celebrated Saturday, April 14 at the Centro Cultural de la Raza’s “Bidi Bidi Boogie” event in Balboa Park. The late Grammy award-winning Tejana singer, fashion icon and cultural symbol gained popularity in the late ‘80s before skyrocketing to fame in the early ‘90s with her self-titled album, Selena and Amor Prohibido.
To celebrate her life and posthumous success and influence, the event will have music, food, vendors and art. Special performances and guest DJs include Eddie Zuko, Alexes Monique, Cisco Kid, Chulita Vinyl Club SD, and Sizzle.
Selena’s bold fashion resonated with fans, from her bustiers, to her red lipstick and shiny ensembles. Xavier the X Man will host a Selena look-a-like contest to see who can rock the iconic looks best.
Tickets go for $10 and goes from 4-10 p.m. Tickets are available online.
