Say farewell to Quartyard at their closing party
One of San Diego’s most unique public venues, an outdoor space in the East Village known as Quartyard, is on its way out. Earlier this year, we wrote about the history of the 25,000 square-foot lot and what the public then feared it may become, a 34-story residential development. A petition was organized on change.org last year in an attempt to keep the urban park alive and well, but the now final news is that Quartyard is officially on its way out and will be moving to a new location for the time being.
The new spot, not too far from its current location in the heart of East Village, will be located at the intersection of 13th Avenue and Market Street. To celebrate the end of one era and the beginning of a new journey for Quartyard, there will be a huge party at the original location on Friday, June 2 from 6 to 11 p.m. for the public to attend.
Attendees can enjoy an evening filled with live music from local bands, food trucks, craft beer, a photo booth and various vendors to peruse.
This event is all-ages. Tickets are $5 pre-sale or $10 at the door and can be purchased at ticketfly.com. For more information, check out the Quartyard Facebook event or visit quartyardsd.com.
